Jenine Clevenger's contemporary abstract paintings record the radiant energy that permeates everthing. Inspired by the natural and technological landscapes that surround her, Clevenger uses acrylics, charcoal, paper, ink and pastels to create translucent layers that build in intensity and resolve into a balance of color, shape and texture. Clevenger's abstract art evokes the constantly shifting forces that underlie all matter with contrasting elements--smooth, rough; bright, dark; organic and geometric--allowing her paintings to grow in radiance until reaching a state of harmonious equilibrium.
Clevenger was raised in northern New Mexico and received her B.F.A. in 1994 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her paintings are exhibited nationally, and are included in numerous private collections.
